Solitude

Ahh. Something new – at least to me. Although I’ve been working hard on getting the final formatting of my novel just right for CreateSpace, I decided to dip my toe in the water of FictionPress.com.

What intrigues me about this site is the potential feedback writers can get on their work. I’ve uploaded only one story (I did say toe only!) but may consider adding more in the future. I do believe short stories are fun to write and fun to read.

For my first upload, I chose the short sci-fi story, SOLITUDE (also available on this website). This story was written for a Ray Bradbury “very” short story contest and I was pleased to receive an honorable mention at the time. Sometimes when you write a short story, you consider the possibility of expanding it to something longer, even a novel. When I originally wrote this story, I will admit it was solely for the contest. Since then, however, I’ve thought about it many times and the story’s potential. Perhaps the readers of FictionPress will let me know. Time will tell.

Maybe many already know and use FictionPress, but if not, check it out. If you are already familiar with it, let me know your thoughts and if you have something posted, I’d love to hear about it!

  1. That sounds like an interesting tool to use. Why have one or two beta-readers when you can have several 🙂

P.S. Great minds think alike. You are thinking about expanding your short story that you wrote for a contest, and I plan on turning my “Trapped” short story into a novel for NaNo this November.
