Stay of Execution: A Done Deal (Hooray!)

Stay of Execution, the second Cancini mystery, is officially published. (Hooray!) Yes, it’s finally out there in the world and I could not be happier. Still, if I’m being totally honest, I’d hoped to write this post in 2013 (crazy in retrospect) but certainly in 2014. I had the storyline roughly plotted and thousands and thousands of words already written, and then things slowed. Life got in the way. There were a few distractions. I stopped and started, stopped and started. It was frustrating. And then finally, I gave it the priority status it deserved. After a few more months of work, I had a draft worth sharing. Whew!

1600x2400.cover (1)With a draft in hand, my new goal was to publish by early fall of 2014 (about 2 years after launching A Guilty Mind), then by Thanksgiving, then by the end of the year. Ha! This time though, it wasn’t really distractions that held things up. Instead, it was more a matter of getting everything just right. Beta readers. Revisions. A talented editor. More revisions. A beautiful cover. All of these things take time. And then the manuscript needed to be prepared for publication. And as any independent author knows, whether you hire someone to format your work or you do it yourself, that final step can also take time – and cause any number of headaches!

And then it was ready. I could not be more thrilled with the results. Thank you to all my partners, my editor, and my cover artist! And thank you to my fellow writers who offered support along the way! You are ALL the best!

So, it is with a great sigh of happiness that I can announce the second in my Detective Cancini Mystery series is finally available. I hope you love it as much as I do.
