Winner Winner, NaNoWriMo, and Favorite Line Fridays

keyboard.jpgThis month is NaNoWriMo. Writers and anyone in the publishing industry already know what that is, but the rest of the world? Probably not. However, the writing community is large and growing all the time. NaNoWriMo is one of the reasons. It’s because of this annual writing challenge that many aspiring writers take the plunge and leap into writing. And thank goodness they do, because the world (even if it’s only friends and family) wins with each new book and each new story.

Although I have yet to formally commit to NaNoWriMo, I set my own goals and deadlines during this month. I am a huge fan of the concept and the community that rallies around writers. In honor of the process, I plan to support other writers by sending some of the best words ever written on writing (get it? not yet? you will!)

One of my all-time favorite books is Stephen King’s ON WRITING. Ahhh…now, you get it! It’s a book that is easily read multiple times and never really gets old. I actually need to read it again this month for additional inspiration! There are many wonderful lines in the book, but to mark my first NaNoWriMo post this month, I’m going with this one:

“You can, you should, and if you’re brave enough to start, you will…” Stephen King, ON WRITING

Best wishes to all those participating. No matter how you finish, congratulations on taking the challenge.

WINNER ALERT

In October, I reached out to my newsletter subscribers because I wanted to share another of my all-time favorite books, REBECCA by Daphne du Maurier. The first time I read this book, I was still in high school and I’ve read it at least ten times since. My original copy is actually falling apart, but I don’t care. I love the tension. I love how evil Mrs. Danvers is. I love the anonymity of the narrator. So, I offered TWO Kindle copies to TWO LUCKY WINNERS. Today is the day I am announcing the winners and gifting their books!

Congratulations go out to…drumroll please…

Lisa Walker

and

Beverlee Smith

I am thrilled to be sending you REBECCA so check your email and you should receive your copy by the end of the day.

My newsletter is VERY occasional and I like to keep it short and sweet, but if you subscribe, do keep an eye out for future contests and more. The holidays are coming! I also love to reach out to readers for input, comments, and just to get to know what you love to read! (P.S. you can sign up HERE if you haven’t already!)
